Marakele Camp Weekend

Hosted by Brenton. A full bakkie, two nights under the Waterberg cliffs, vultures at sunrise and a potjie that takes all afternoon.

R380 eachThe stands for both nights. EFT details come after you RSVP. The potjie is on us.
Gate
SANParks conservation feePaid at the gate. Wild Card holders get in free.
The drive
About 3 hours from JoburgVia Brits and Thabazimbi. Tar to the gate, so any car will do. Fill up in Thabazimbi.

The plan

  1. Convoy leaves Fourways
  2. Stands pitched, fire lit, the first cold one
  3. Coffee in the dark, then up to Lenong for sunrise and the vultures
  4. Slow game drive, long lunch in the shade
  5. Lamb potjie on the coals. Nobody lifts the lid.
  6. Pack the bakkie again, home by 14:00

Bring

  • Sleeping bag & pillow
  • Headlamp or torch
  • Your own drinks (the cooler is shared)
  • A warm layer for the 05:30 start
  • Hat & sunscreen
  • Binoculars, if you have them
  • A tent & chair, if you have them
  • Your Wild Card, if you have one
